Alien Dayz Comic Book

Alien Dayz Comic Book

AN OUT OF THIS WORLD COMIC!

Every year McMinnville Oregon has one of the largest UFO Festivals in the USA. This comic is inspired by that; from the first UFO sighting at Trent Farm in 1950, to the eclectic and fun parade the city has each year.

Making My First Comic....

Seeing all the art we had for UFO Festival, I felt we had something fun missing. That went beyond a ray gun made in China.

Being inspired by a current commission I was working on for Uncorked Treasures and their UFO products.

John The Alien was Created.

Bring On The Cows

Alien Dayz was the town’s original name for the festival, back before McMenamins took the reins. It felt like the perfect title for my new comic—a nod to its quirky history and roots.

Next, I mulled over the genre: horror or sci-fi? Something dark and scary? Nah, that misses the mark. The festival’s all about joy—the parade buzzes with excitement, locals and visitors alike beaming with fun.

Who better to capture that spirit than a herd of local cows? Cows have never spooked me; they’ve only brought smiles. As a kid, who doesn’t cherish those school farm trips or sunny days at a neighbor’s ranch?

Magic or Science

Bringing it together started with a cover and a comical idea. Taking that child like imagination and putting it onto paper and thinking how would aliens and cows play.

Instead of abductions and terribly bad things involving probes…why couldn’t the aliens also see the cows as we did as children. And come down to play using their magic or science to have an excellent evening.

I went through several ideas that would be fun for both the viewer and the aliens and cows. Ultimately this first edition came down to a few fun relatable scenes that were good for all ages.

For All Ages

If a cow and an alien could talk..

Personally I think it would be funny, but this story might not involve humans at all. So what would they say, and do? This comic tells the story of a long night out at the farm. And the magic Aliens can bring their cow friends. Over the last 70 or so years of visiting the party gets turned up.

Every page has something that brings a smile to an adults heart or a kids. Whether you are reading this while they go to bed or you find the kids in a pillow fort reading it. This comic will have everyone finding something new.
