If you need a midweek lift, head to Act2PV on Wednesday evenings for The Greatest Show on Earth. All summer long the theater presents a lively, 90-minute free concert featuring rock and pop hits from the ’70s to today, performed by some of Puerto Vallarta’s best local talent. It’s a perfect preview of the full productions you’ll see at Act2PV, delivered with energy and charm.
Wednesdays 7pm – 830pm
The evening opens with an impressive piano intro by David Maiocco, now the theatre’s director. Alfonzo Lopez guides the night as MC, introducing an array of acts and keeping the tempo high. With David on piano and backing vocals, the show moves through nine distinct performances that will have you tapping your feet, singing along, and surprised when the 90 minutes are already gone.
Highlights include a theatrical take on Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Have You Ever Seen the Rain” by the multi-talented Yutzil — who you might also recognize as the chef-owner behind the popular Greasy Gourmet.
Throughout the night you’ll see singers and musicians from various Act2PV productions and other local shows, creating a delightful sampler of the city’s performing arts scene.

The evening was filled with amazing acts and performances. Here are some performances that stood out, for me.
Alejandro, made his stage debut for Act2PV performing a melody of Elvis songs. His stage and crowd commandment will surely be an amazing addition to the theater.
Gabriela, is a well known and talented performer in Puerto Vallarta. Her smile lights up the room, and use of stage engages us all while singing Blonde’s Heart of Glass.
Cate, a resident act and showcase performer at Act2PV. Often performing at Friday nights Open Mic. She brought the whole show to an end. Where the whole ensemble joined in singing a Pate Benatar Medley.
Act2PV’s Greatest Show on Earth is free to attend. The theatre asks that guests purchase at least two drinks and tip the performers — a small, reasonable way to support the artists and the venue. Drinks are affordably priced (beer was around $60 MXN) and the cocktail menu is extensive. Tips are optional, so bring some cash if you’d like to show appreciation.
